Hakima El Haite Decorated with Insignia of Chevalier of Legion of Honor

Hakima El Haité, Deputy Minister for the Environment, was decorated Wednesday evening in Paris with the insignia of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor of the French Republic.

This decoration was handed over to Mrs El Haité on behalf of the President of the French Republic by the President of the Constitutional Council and former President of the United Nations Conference on Climate (COP 21), Laurent Fabius at a ceremony attended by several Moroccan and French personalities including senators and deputies.

Mr Fabius recalled, in a speech, Mrs El Haité’s path and commitment to the ecological cause both nationally and internationally.

In this regard, he highlighted the actions taken by the Ministry of the Environment to “implement the ecological impulse announced by His Majesty King Mohammed VI”, in particular through the Charter of the Environment and Strategy for sustainable development.

Mr Fabius also expressed the recognition of France in Morocco and Mrs El Haité, who actively participated in the preparation of the COP 21 crowned by the historic agreement of Paris, welcoming its unfailing commitment and dynamism in the field The protection of the environment, and the Kingdom’s contribution to climate.
