Zuhair Murad showcases his new Morocco-inspired collection (Photos)

Written by FDM

For his autumn-winter 2019-2020 collection, unveiled this Wednesday, July 3 as part of Fashion Week haute couture in Paris, Zuhair Murad drew inspiration from North Africa.

Dubbed “Mirages et Oasis”, the new feminine collection by the Lebanese designer, where the bohemian meets the chic, offers an imagined outlook on Marrakesh of the 70s. The colors of spices join the gold disco. The collection was inspired by the famous oriental rugs:  embroidery and colored crystals are dotted as a patchwork on the dresses. There were also richly colored traditional rug patterns on the ground.

Silk tulle, crepe, chiffon, gazar, velvet silk … Here the evening dresses are available in kaftans, adorned with capes or traditional-like jewelry as a belt. In short, the designer dives into the heart of Moroccan crafts to draw a range of details and ornaments precisely revisited with his touch both oriental and contemporary.

The centerpiece of the collection was this (above) glittering ivory wedding dress, with vertiginous volumes, adorned with crystals and sequins. It comes along with a veil also embroidered with crystals. The perfect way to close this glamorous show.
