Ukrainian Airline Discards High Heels and Skirts From Female Staff’s New Uniforms

Written by FDM

SkyUp Airlines, Ukraine’s largest airline, have decided to change the uniform of their female staff to a more forward-looking, stylish, and comfortable one.

In an attempt to revolutionize a profession that, as pointed out, “was born a hundred years ago ”, SkyUp Airlines’ female staff will no longer have to wear skirts and high heels. They will be equipped with loose-fitting pantsuits and white Nike shoes.

“The form is created for active, bold, bright; those who do not like superfluous officialdom, but appreciate style […] These are clothes for those who are open to new things, those who love travel and life,” said the airline in a statement on its website.

Seeking the comfort of flight attendants, the company carried out a study in collaboration with Frame Fashion Consultancy. Thus, in the choice of clothes and through the process of making them, the opinion of the workers was taken into account.

Designed in collaboration with the Ukrainian fashion brand GUDU, the new SkyUp uniform will make its debut in the fall of 2021.

As the new uniform incorporates the idea of movement, it was also decided that workers should no longer wear heels. Following a search for comfortable shoes, Nike Air Max 720 sneakers were finally chosen as an alternative.

Alongside the wardrobe update, SkyUp will introduce a new make-up palette of blue and orange reflecting the color of the sky during sunrise and sunset

“Times have changed, women have changed, so in contrast to the conservative classics, heels, red lipstick, and a bun, a new, more modern, and comfortable image of a ‘champion’ has appeared. Freedom, natural beauty, individuality, no patterns, and sneakers in which everyone ‘would like to fly’,” said Marianna Grigorash, Head of SkyUp Airlines Marketing Department.
