The Moroccan Caftan icon Wafaa Idrissi showcased her new collection at the recently held “Top Model of the Universe 2022” contest in Istanbul, Turkey.

Morocco made quite an impression in the recent “Top Model of the Universe 2022” contest. Aside from the “Top Model of Universe 2022” title proudly handed to Moroccan Ilias Senhaji, designer Wafaa Idrissi showcased her new collection at the Grand Jury reception.

The Moroccan Caftan icon presented a collection of “magnificent white kaftans embroidered with gold thread, enhanced with pearls and Swarovski crystals, entirely hand-crafted by the master craftsmen of Morocco, ” said a press release from the organizers.

The touch that defines Wafaa Idrissi makes it possible to create “a dialogue between tradition and modernity, openness and sharing to make the Moroccan caftan shine throughout the world”.

Meantime, at only 17, Ilias Senhaji secured a spot in the inaccessible world of fashion. Discovered during Morocco Fashion Week in Marrakech in June 2022, the muse of the Moroccan fashion house Calamain has been named “Top Model of the Universe 2022”.

The winner on the women’s side, Miss Turkey Defne Sentuk, and her runner-up, Miss Netherlands, Rosan Lankam wore kaftans during their coronations.
Note that Marrakech will host the next edition of the “Top Model of Universe”.
