The world’s largest underwater restaurant opens in Norway (Photos)

It is henceforth possible to have lunch or dine at 5.5 meters in depth! “Under” in Lindesnes, Norway, is Europe’s first and the world’s largest underwater restaurant. It’s expected to open its doors on April 2nd.

From the outside, the place looks long tube made of cement with a totally submerged part.  It was designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Snoehetta who also thought of the Oslo Opera House, the New York Memorial of 11 September and the future headquarters of the Le Monde Group in France.

The world’s largest underwater restaurant can accommodate between 80 and 100 guests. It costs 232 euros per person to taste the menu prepared by the Danish chef Nicolai Ellitsgaard Pedersen. A price that did not discourage the 7000 people who have already reserved their tables. The restaurant is indeed already full until August.

“Under” will not be a simple restaurant. It will also host a research center on fauna and flora where researchers can study marine biology and fish behavior.
