On December 30, the Artcurial Maroc house is organizing a 5th edition of “Un Hiver Marocain”, a prestigious auction session at La Mamounia in Marrakech. The unmissable event for art lovers.

The first chapter of this session will be devoted to Majorelle and Its Contemporaries, including several works by Jacques Majorelle, Etienne Dinet, Eugène Girardet, Marcelle Ackein, and Alexandre Roubtzoff.

The second part of the sale will feature Contemporary African Artists such as Pilipili Mulongoy, Bodys Isek Kingelez, Aboudia, as well as a selection of photographs by Sidibé and Keïta.

Finally, the last chapter of the sale will offer a large selection of works by Modern Moroccan and Western Artists such as Mohamed Melehi, Chaïbia Talal, Hassan El Glaoui, Jilali Gharbaoui, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso or Joan Miró, including a signed canvas Marc Chagall, entitled The lovers in the green square, which will be presented at auction.

Currently, on display in the Mohammed VI Museum in Rabat, photographs by Malick Sidibé and Seydou Keïta will be offered for sale.

For the first time, a pre-exhibition of a selection of works will be held at the Galerie Venise Cadre, in Casablanca, from December 15 to 17, 2021.

The exhibition at the Mamounia in Marrakech will take place from 26 to 30 December, the day of the auction. Auctions will start with Majorelle & Its contemporaries – 4 p.m. Followed by Contemporary African Art and Modern & Contemporary Art – 5.30 p.m.

“We are very happy to come back to this magnificent setting that is the Mamounia for this new session of “Un Hiver Marocain“. For Majorelle and Its Contemporaries, this session will unveil rare and historical works by Boutet de Monvel, Ackein, Dinet and Majorelle. Modern and Contemporary Art brings together artists from different backgrounds in one catalog! They are Moroccans like Chaïbia and Melehi, Africans like Aboudia or Sidibé and finally Chagall, Picasso, Matisse and Miró. They are for the first time presented in an auction in Morocco. This event reinforces the place that Marrakech occupies today in the art market.” Said Olivier Berman, Artcurial Maroc Director.
