The Blue Flag was awarded by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment and the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), to three beaches located in the province of Safi.

For the 2021 summer season, the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment and the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) awarded the Blue Flag to three beaches in the province of Safi. These are the beaches of Safi Ville (Safi Municipale beach), Souiria Lekdima (36 km south of Safi), and Cap Beddouza (35 km north of Safi).

This international label not only requires an irreproachable quality of bathing water but is also concerned with safety, the development of beaches, and back beaches in addition to environmental awareness. The Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment had produced in 2020 for municipalities, a guide for beach management in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Foundation said in a press release. Its recommendations, which deal with several points such as physical distancing, respect for barrier gestures, or even the distribution of hydroalcoholic gel, will be maintained on the beaches open to swimming.

In Morocco, the Blue Flag was awarded by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment and the FEE, to 27 beaches and a marina on the national coast. “This is one more beach than the previous year,” said the Foundation, noting that the municipalities in charge of labeled beaches have maintained their efforts, despite the health situation in summer 2020 linked to Covid-19. Worldwide, the Blue Flag Label has been awarded on 4,743 beaches and marinas in 47 countries in Europe, Africa, America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.
