The 2022 Women’s African Cup Of Nations kicked off on Saturday with a colorful opening ceremony that pays tribute to African women. In his opening speech, CAF President Patrice Motsepe said that this Moroccan edition of the Women’s African Cup will be the best ever organized.
The ceremony, which lasted about twenty minutes, began with a show hosted by Moroccan singer Manal, who hyped the audience with her very popular songs (Niya-Slay).

It was also marked by a musical show drawn from the African repertoire and traditions, against a backdrop of fireworks that illuminated the Moulay Abdellah complex in Rabat, in addition to a parade that honored the African woman.
As a reminder, the four semi-finalists of this CAN will secure directly, and for the first time, a spot for the next World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in the summer of 2023. A goal that the Atlas Lionesses will try to achieve for the first time in the history of national women’s football.
The Morocco-2022 edition sees the participation, for the first time, of twelve teams instead of eight previously.
