“Since 2013, Final Cut in Venice has been offering post-production support to films from African and Arab countries,” said the CCM in a press release, announcing the selection of the docu-fiction “The Mother of All Lies” by Asmae El Moudir among the six films in progress, for the 9th edition of Final Cut in Venice.
According to the press release, the films selected by Final Cut in Venice are submitted to a professional jury which funds the winners for their post-production and facilitates their access to the film markets. This film was also supported during the second edition of the Atlas Workshops in 2019, the film industry support program of the Marrakech International Film Festival.
Among the films made by Asmae El Moudir, “La guerre oubliée” won the Grand Prize and the director award of the 5th Documentary film festival on Saharawi Hassani culture, history, and space in Laâyoune in December 2019.
“Fi zaouiyat Omi” or “POSTCARD” produced by Aljazeera Documentary Channel in 2020, her first feature documentary was selected in prestigious festivals such as IDFA (Amsterdam), Visions du Réel (Switzerland), Malmö (Sweden) and will be screened this week in official competition at the Durban International Film Festival (South Africa), reports the CCM. This film won the Grand Prix at the International Women’s Film Festival in Toronto and the Grand Prix at the IsReal Film Festival in Nuoro (Italy).
