Morocco Receives Several Nominations in AFRIMA 2022 Awards

Several Moroccan artists are on the official list of nominees for the All Africa Music Awards. Among them are, Manal Benchlikha, Jaylann, Faouzia, and El Grande Toto.

Several Moroccan artists are included in the official list of nominees for the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA-2022), published on Wednesday by the AFRIMA International Executive Committee, in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC).

In the category “Best Male Artist in North Africa”, Draganov is shortlisted for his track “Chichi”, El Grande Toto with “Salade Coco” and Snor with “Kasseta”.

Faouzia with “RIP Love”, Jaylann with the track “Oui Oui”, Manal/”Makhelaw Magalou”, Marwa Loud & Moha K “Ghir Ntiya” and Rym ”Stylo Warqa” are nominated for the “Best Female Artist in North Africa”.

Faouzia “RIP Love” and Moha K, Marwa Loud “Ghir Ntiya” is also nominated for “Best African Act In Diaspora (Female)”. Kouz1 with “Magic” is part of the list of nominees for the “Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Pop” category.

Chaama & Eljoee with “Burakia” and Manal/”3ari” will compete for the title “Best Female Artist in Africa Inspirational Music”.

From a total of 9,067 entries submitted, the highest number ever recorded, the AFRIMA jury selected 382 nominations across 39 categories, said a statement from the organizers.

West Africa ranks high with 134 nominations, followed by East Africa (69 nominations), Southern Africa (68 nominations), Central Africa (52), and North Africa(49), according to the same source.

Moreover, the Global Music Region, which represents the music of non-Africans in the Diaspora which further contributes to the growth of the African region, rounds out the list with 10 nominations or 2.6%. Public voting begins globally on September 25, while the main awards will take place from December 8-11.

AFRIMA is a youth-focused company. It is a music platform that recognizes and rewards the work and talents of African artists across generations.
