Moroccan athletes Soukaina Zakour and Lamyae Himi won the women’s hammer throw gold medal and the 800-meter medal respectively at the Dakar meeting.
The Dakar Athletics Meeting saw the victory of two Moroccans this weekend. First off, Soukaina Zakour won the hammer throw event. The athlete won the gold medal with a throw of 58m47. She was followed by Queen Fumilayo Obisesean who made a throw of 56m43 while third place was occupied by the Senegalese Fatou Diocou (52m26).
In the women’s 800-meter event, Morocco’s Lamyae Humi won first place with a time of 02m 08sec 90. Second place went to the Senegalese athlete Madjiguene Mbaye while the Ivorian Djafoulmon Diabate came in third.
Several national and foreign athletes take part in this competition which returned after seven years of absence.
