Moroccan actress Noufissa Benchehida took away the Golden Sotigui at the 2017 Sotigui Awards ceremony held on December 2 in Ouagadougou.

” I got it ! “, actress Noufissa Benchehida proudly posted on her Facebook account after winning the Golden Sotigui 2017, the most coveted trophy of Sotigui Awards that rewards the best actors of African cinema across 13 categories.

The beautiful brunette who was facing the Malian Ibrahim Koma and the Senegalese Vero Tshanda Beya, seduced the jury chaired by Appoline Traore through her interpretation in the film “In Search of Lost Power” directed by the Moroccan Mohamed Ahed Bensouda.  It is the story of a retired general who runs his happy days in his villa between sport, reading and chess with his fellow soldier, a colonel of his age, surrounded and served by a beautiful housekeeper, a gardener, two soldiers, a driver and an electrician. A monotony almost perfect until the day the beautiful Ilham, a cabaret singer, appears in his life.

Following her Golden Sotigui win.  Noufissa  expressed a great joy ” “This trophy represents a whole career of an actress for me. We have Oscar and Caesar elsewhere, but I have the Sotigui Award in Africa and I am very proud of it.”

Noufissa rose to fame in 2M’s series  “The case”. She succeeds the Burkinabe actress Mouna Ndiaye in this festival second edition, which this year has “the image of women in the creation of African films” as the main focus.

Il y a l'Oscar , le César , le Golden Globe et il y a le GOLDEN SOTOGUI !
