“Le Feu qui forge”, The Collective Exhibition at L’Atelier 21

From June 22 to July 30, 2021, L’Atelier 21 art gallery is organizing “Le Feu qui forge”, a collective exhibition celebrating the contribution of Mohamed Melehi (1936-2020) to the field of visual arts in Morocco.


Indeed, 21 artists participate in this exhibition through a work that has a kinship with the artistic universe of Mohamed Melehi. They are: Said Afifi, Zainab Andalibe, Daoud Aoulad-Syad, Nassim Azarzar, Mustapha Azeroual, Fouad Bellamine, Yasmina Benabderrahmane, M’batek Bouhchichi, Khalil El Ghrib, Safaa Erruas, Mohsin Harraki, Maria Karim, Fatima Mazmouz ,Najia Mehadji, Houssein Miloudi, Lamia Naji, Abdelkébir Rabi’, Batoul S’Himi, Hossein Tallal, Eric Van Hove Yamou.

The curator of this exhibition, Salma Lahlou, explained her approach in these terms: “As part of the invitation given to me by L’Atelier 21 to design a collective exhibition based on the work of Mohamed Melehi, I wanted to focus on the radicality of his plastic writing and the aesthetic claims it raises. Because Melehi, by liberating form and thought, has created a model. This model, I want to make a maieutics. ”
