Meryem Touzani’s “Le Bleu Du Caftan” won the Audience Award at the 40th Arte-Mare Mediterranean Film Festival in Bastia, as well as the Greek Association of Film Critics Award and the Audience Award at the 28th Athens International Film Festival.
Ever since its first screening in Cannes, the film amassed multiple awards including the Directing Award and Best Actor Award for Saleh Bakri at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, as well as the Best Actress Award for Lubna Azabal, Best Actor Award for Saleh Bakri and of Critics at the Valenciennes International Film Festival. Not to mention, the international critics’ prize at the Cannes festival.
The film is produced by Nabil Ayouch and co-produced by Amine Benjelloun.
“Le Bleu du Caftan,” tells the story of Halim and Mina, a couple running a Caftan shop in the medina of Salé, joined by Youssef, a young apprentice who shares with his maalem, Halim, the same sincere passion for sewing.
The cast includes Saleh Bakri, Lubna Azabal, and Ayoub Missioui.
