“Le Bleu du Caftan”, directed by Maryam Touzani, features Halim and Mina, a couple who run a Caftan shop in the medina of Salé, joined by Youssef, a young apprentice who shares with his Maalem, Halim, the same sincere passion for sewing. This film is about transmission, tradition, and love, in the broadest sense of the term.
Produced by Nabil Ayouch and co-produced by Amine Benjelloun, “Le bleu du Caftan” is performed by Saleh Bakri, Lubna Azabal, Ayoub Missioui, Mounia Lamkimel, Hamid Zoughi and many other Moroccan actors and actresses. This film is produced by Ali n’ Productions (Morocco) and Films du Nouveau Monde (France), co-produced by Velvet Films (Belgium) and Snowglobe (Denmark), supported by the Moroccan Cinema Center. It is distributed by Ad Vitam and international sales are handled by Films Boutique.
“Le bleu du Caftan” is nominated in the Un Certain Regard official selection of the Cannes Film Festival scheduled for May 17 to 28, along with 18 other films from around the world.
