This unique exhibition was curated by Stéphanie Cassan and collector Nathalie Heller Loufrani in collaboration with the French Institute of Marrakech. It jointly presents the Zindekh tapestries made by women from the Azilal region since the 90s which are works of art in the lineage of the greatest artists as well as the paintings of the self-taught artist Keya who has lived for several years in Marrakech.
This gallery in the desert combines tradition and modernity, art and crafts, the secrets of women, and their daring visions to the world.
These women testify to their experiences, their loneliness, their joy, their delicacy, guided by a story carried by their mothers and grandmothers. Their strength is to have created their own language in which their speech is no longer silenced. An inarticulate and pure language.
The event has a single aim for its founder: “to highlight the work of these Berber ladies, support the SEMIND association and allow the opening of a new home for the start of the school year to support the education of girls in rural areas.”
