International Women’s Day: Australian Documentary Film “Brazen Hussies” Screened in Rabat

In light of International Women’s Day, the Australian Embassy in Morocco is organizing, on Wednesday, March 09, 2022, from 6 p.m. at the Renaissance Cinema, the screening of the Australian documentary film “Brazen Hussies”.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Moroccan women’s rights activists. The debate will be moderated by Soumaya Naamane Guessous, sociologist and champion of women’s rights, Sanaa El Aji, sociologist and publication director of Marayana.com, and Sarah Benmoussa, activist and co-founder of the #7achak movement.

“Brazen Hussies” is a documentary film by Catherine Dwyer which reveals for the first time an exciting and revolutionary chapter in Australian history, the Women’s Liberation Movement during the 1960s. Fusing freshly disclosed archival footage, personal photographs, memories, and vivid testimonies from activists across Australia, ‘Brazen Hussies shows how a group of daring and diverse women has come together to challenge the status quo., demand equality, and create profound change in the social landscape.
