HRH Prince Moulay Rachid Attends Queen Elizabeth II Funeral

Written by FDM

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid took part yesterday in London in a reception offered to high personalities who came to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

After 10 days of national mourning, tributes, and rituals at the centenary pump, 2,000 people took part in a religious ceremony at Westminster Abbey at 10 a.m. GMT. The coffin arrived there in procession, followed by King Charles III and members of the Royal Family on foot.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, who is representing His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the funeral, arrived earlier on Sunday at London Stansted airport where he was greeted by a special representative of HM King Charles III,  Ambassador of HM the King to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in London.

The state funeral, the first since that of Winston Churchill in 1965, could be among the most watched TV events in history. They will also be shown on giant screens in London and across the UK.

The late queen will be buried Monday evening in privacy, in the George VI Memorial, an annex of the castle’s chapel where she had spent her last years. She will rest close to her parents and the late Prince Philip, her husband of 73 years.
