The action American star suffers from aphasia, according to his family.

Famous action movie actor Bruce Willis is ending his career. “Our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” wrote his wife Emma Heming Willis on Instagram, co-signing this message with the actor’s ex-wife, Demi Moore, and his friends, daughters Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel and Evelyn.

According to specialists from the American Mayo Clinic, aphasia often occurs after a stroke or head trauma and prevents the patient from communicating normally. “It can affect your ability to speak, write, and understand language, both spoken and written ,” they explain.

Bruce Willis, 67, rose to prominence in the1980s with a recurring role in the Clair de lune series alongside Cybill Shepherd, but it was with Die Hard 1, that he was met with a worldwide success in 1988. The saga had two sequels in the 1990s, confirming the notoriety of Bruce Willis who had become one of the references of the genre.

Ranked at the top of the A-List of American actors, his salary had ended up reaching 20 or 25 million dollars per film in the early 2000s. For a decade, however, the actor’s career did lay low as he mainly worked in low-budget action films released directly on video.
