The World Organization of Gastronomy (OMG) has just appointed Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou as Ambassador of African Design.
This appointment by this European structure, which international action covers all sectors of science, Tableware, Luxury, and Gastronomy, adds to the achievements of Hicham Lahlou who carries the Moroccan national design flag and is considered one of the great leaders of African and Arab design.
His creations are always imbued with cultural and identity references, subtly integrated into modern lines. Hicham Lahlou signs major projects and collections edited by prestigious international brands, such as Ecart International, Lip, Aquamass, CITCO Italy, DAUM, and most recently HAVILAND and in 2014 founded the Africa Design Award & Days project (ADA, ADD ) which he directs as one of the leaders of African Design.
His creations are regularly exhibited in museums such as the Vitra Design Museum, the Guggenheim Bilboa, the Kunsthal Rotterdam, High Museum Atlanta USA, or the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Hicham Lahlou juggles design and contemporary art by demonstrating limitless talent. In 2016, he received the distinction of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by France. He was elected member of the Board of Directors of the World Design Organization (WDO) and appointed Regional Advisor Africa WDO.
