Great success for the 5th edition of Un Hiver Marocain auction at La Mamounia

On December 30, Artcurial Maroc organized its 5th edition of Un Hiver Marocain auction which accumulated roughly 54m MAD / 5.15m €, including 12 sales above the 1m and 2 world records.

On Thursday, December 30, Artcurial Maroc organized its sale Un Hiver Marocain which was divided into three chapters: Majorelle and its Contemporaries, Modern and Contemporary Art, and Contemporary African Art.

After four days of exhibition at the Venice Cadre Gallery in Casablanca in mid-December, followed by four more traditional ones at the Mamounia, a faithful partner of Artcurial Maroc, fans from all over the world responded and showed great enthusiasm.

The auctions were prized at the Mamounia as well as in duplex in Paris, supported by the live Bid on the Artcurial site with more than 120 customers and 30 different nationalities registered and more than 160 telephone bidders.

Note that the Majorelle & its Contemporaries chapter recorded two world records: The carpet souk in Marrakech by Marcelle Ackein with 2,080,000 MAD / € 198,000 including fees, and The Marvelous Legend of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon by Georges Antoine Rochegrosse: 2,015,000 MAD / 191,000 € including fees.

Other fine auctions mark this session, such as the works of Etienne Dinet Fillettes dansant: 3,571,000 MAD / 340,000 € including fees, The conscript: 2,331,000 MAD / 221,900 € including fees, or those by Jacques Majorelle avec Ouarzazate: 2,207,000 MAD / 210,000 € including costs, and the Couvertures noires: 1,430,000 MAD / 136,100 € including costs. Rahmouna, oil on canvas by Alexandre Roubtzoff was sold at 858,000 MAD / 82,700 € including fees. The Majorelle and its Contemporaries chapter recorded 26m MAD / 2.5m € including fees!

In compliance with sanitary measures, the auction was a resounding success and confirmed the dynamism of the art market, despite the current complex situation.
