After the year 2020 disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Film Weeks return, from November 24 to December 10, in Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, and Agadir.

From November 24 to December 10, it’s the European Film Weeks, an unmissable event for European cinema in Morocco. “We are very happy to find our way back to cinemas, to reconnect with spectators and to be able to show again a selection of the best European films after this year of interruption”, read a press release from the European Union in Morocco. The event has been organized since 1991 in collaboration with the embassies and cultural institutes of EU member states, and in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the Moroccan Cinematographic Center, the Hiba Foundation, the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Visuels de Marrakech, the Le Colisée cinema (Marrakech), the Rif cinema (Casablanca), the Renaissance cinema (Rabat) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Souss-Massa Services (Agadir).

On the screen, eight unreleased films among the best of the year from different countries of Europe including “Madres paralelas”, the latest opus from the great master of Spanish cinema Pedro Almodóvar which will be presented in preview in the four cities. With this film, the filmmaker returns to his favorite genre, female melodrama, and collaborates for the 7th time with his favorite actress Penélope Cruz, who won the interpretation prize at the last Venice Film Festival for this role. A series of short films from the South of the Mediterranean is also planned, an opportunity to once again celebrate European cinema and to discover new talents in the region.
