Organized in partnership with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO, these “dynamic and accessible” conferences aim to publicize the objectives of this decade of which alliance is sponsored by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment.
The Foundation is active within the framework of its Clean Beaches and #bharblaplastic program. The latter, which consists of collecting plastic waste in the 105 beaches of the Clean Beaches program, “allows us to realize the reality of this growing threat,” the Foundation explained in a press release. It also offers solutions by teaching participants to reduce their plastic use and by recycling the plastic waste collected, according to the principles of a circular economy, she continues.
The Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development aims to create clean oceans where sources of pollution are identified and reduced or eliminated, healthy and resilient oceans where marine ecosystems are well known, protected, restored, and managed.
