“Cinémas du Maroc” goes down memory lane of theaters in Morocco (photos)

Written by FDM

In partnership with the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, La Croisée des Chemins has just published a beautiful book dedicated to the history of cinemas in Morocco.

The publication of this work gave rise to an exhibition organized from Wednesday, December 15 to Monday, January 31, 2022, at the CDA gallery in Casablanca; It displays, among other things, photographs in limited series and Fine Arts prints.

“The work in your hands is an invitation to discover the diversity and history of an exceptional heritage. It is above all a photo book, which could also be, the witness of nostalgia, of the love that Moroccans had and still have for their theaters. The word is therefore often given to those who knew them during their golden age. The story is illustrated by numerous press articles or extracts from books, but also by interviews with professionals (filmmakers and exhibitors) in order to testify and bring these cinemas back to life. I hope you will have as much pleasure in browsing these pages as I had in immersing myself in this adventure”, reads the introduction of the author and photographer, François Beaurain.
