The Essaouira Mogador choir, a new initiative of the Essaouira-Mogador association, is born in the city of trade winds.

“Several people wanted to sing in a choir. It was done thanks to the Essaouira-Mogador association, which has added the new discipline to its panoply of activities, as well as the Dakira program aimed at preserving the cultural memory of Morocco”, as presented in a press release, the Essaouira-Mogador association which thus announces the creation of the choir of Essaouira Mogador.

Every Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the choristers meet at “Bayt Dakira” under the leadership of Safouane Moqadem, for two hours of singing. “The Essaouira Mogador choir wants to touch hearts, in joy and good humor”, explained Kaoutar Chakir Benamara, general secretary of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, adding that it is a “free” choir and open to all, without selection, without discrimination, and without confessional distinction”.

Noting that Essaouira is full of a talent pool, she felt that the city deserves to have a choir worthy of the association’s reputation. Through music, the Essaouira-Mogador Association brings together young people from different backgrounds and promotes dialogue between people, notes the press release before concluding that through this choir, the Essaouira-Mogador Association thus contributes to the preservation and the conservation of Moroccan musical heritage.
