Cannes Film Festival: Standing ovation for “Le Bleu du Caftan”, at its world premiere

As part of its official selection at Cannes – Un Certain Regard section, the new film by director Maryam Touzani “Le Bleu du Caftan” was screened on Thursday, May 26, as a world premiere, under the rapturous applause from the audience.

Moroccan cinema shines in 2022 at the Cannes Film Festival with the latest film by Maryam Touzani, “Le Bleu du Caftan”, screened in world premiere this Thursday, May 26, as part of the “Un Certain Regard” category.

Produced by Nabil Ayouch and co-produced by Amine Benjelloun, “Le Bleu du Caftan” received a round of applause upon its screening. This poignant feature film speaks of transmission, tradition, and love, in the broadest sense of the term. The film features Halim and Mina, a couple who run a Caftan shop in the medina of Salé, joined by Youssef, a young apprentice who shares with his Maalem, Halim, the same sincere passion for sewing.

“Le Bleu du Caftan” is performed by Lubna Azabal, Saleh Bakri, Ayoub Missioui, Mounia Lamkimel, Hamid Zoughi, and many other Moroccan actors and actresses.
