An Agreement for Refugee Children’s Access To the Education System

Facilitating the integration of refugees in Morocco and their children into the national education system is the aim of the framework partnership agreement signed between the Ministry of National Education and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

To allow refugee children to return to school benches, a framework partnership agreement was signed between Saaid Amzazi, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, and François Reybet-Degat, representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Morocco (UNHCR). ”  Morocco is a country of transit and reception and also a model which deserves to be reproduced in the field of reception of the refugees policy”, declared the minister in a press release. Morocco has made equity and the right to universal access to education and training institutions one of its priorities, as stipulated in Framework Law 51.17 on the education, training and training system. scientific research, in his second article  ”.

The purpose of this convention is to set up joint actions to facilitate the integration of refugees in Morocco and their children into the national education system. In particular, it provides for training in the Arabic language and Moroccan culture as well as their participation in various cultural, sports and linguistic activities. For François Reybet-Degat, “the signing of this framework partnership agreement between the ministry and the UNHCR represents an important step in the work of integrating refugees into education systems as called for by the National Strategy for Immigration and ‘Asylum, an inclusive and fundamentally humanist strategy  ‘.
