The organizers of the Miss Universe Morocco contest announced Wednesday on their Instagram page that the winner of the contest will not participate in the world event, “due to an accident” which does not allow her to represent the country “in optimal conditions in the weeks to come ”.
In the evening, the organizers unveiled the identity of Morocco’s new representative: First runner-up, Kawtar Benhalima.
Meantime, Fatima-Zahra Khayat took to her Instagram page to announce the news, “I regret to inform you that unfortunately, I could not stay in the competition of @missuniverse following a fall that caused an “awful” ankle sprain.” she wrote in a caption accompanying the photo of the appointment of the new Miss Universe Morocco. “I reluctantly withdraw from this honorable contest of @missuniversemorocco. Therefore, my title of miss universe morocco will be transmitted to the first runner-up designated by the Jury the beautiful @kawtarbenhalima.” She concluded.
Morocco will participate in the Miss Universe contest for the first time in 40 years. The event will take place on December 12 in Israel.
