Shocking record of Covid-19 contaminations in Morocco

In the past 24 hours, Morocco has recorded a shocking 1,283 additional Covid-19 contaminations, the highest number as of yet which bring the total number of cases to 28,500. The death toll stood at 18 in the past 24 hours.

The report presented on Wednesday August 05, by Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health also shows a cumulative contamination rate of 78.5 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Thus, five regions contain 94% of new cases. Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma (322 cases), Marrakech-Safi (296 cases), Casablanca-Settat (249 cases), Fès-Meknes (165 cases) and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (136 cases). More than two thirds of new infections have also been recorded in Tangier (296), Marrakech (262), Casablanca (203) and Fez (110).
In addition, out of the 1,283 new cases, 1,001 (78%) were identified with the contacts-tracking system.

In the past 24 hours, 18 people have died from Covid-19, bringing the total toll to 435 cases. The 18 deaths were recorded in the cities of Tangier (13), Marrakech (2), Tétouan (1), Fez (1) and Casablanca (1).

Among these active cases, 108 are treated in resuscitation and intensive care units, of which 19 are under artificial ventilators. They are spread over the following 5 regions: Casablanca-Settat (38), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma (26), Marrakech-Safi (22), Fès-Meknès (12), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (8) and Souss -Massa (2).
