In a particular context marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, the seasonal flu vaccination campaign will be launched at the end of October.
The national seasonal flu vaccination campaign will be launched from the 4th week of October, in a particular context marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and the probability of co-circulation of the influenza virus and Sars- Cov-2, as announced by the Ministry of Health in a circular.
It’s a campaign carried out as part of a large communication campaign covering all preventive measures against seasonal flu, namely barrier gestures, physical distancing, and hygiene measures. “These means will have an impact on both the prevention of influenza and of Covid-19, as well as a reduction in the use of healthcare structures”, Underlines the ministry, before indicating that the flu is a generally mild infection, but can cause serious complications, even death in people at high risks, such as pregnant women, children under 5 years old, people aged 65 years and over and people with chronic diseases.
From the 2019-2020 season, the ministry has decided to ensure the vaccination of pregnant women in the second and third trimester of pregnancy, patients suffering from end-stage renal disease, in addition to health professionals, in the optics of expanding immunization coverage.
