Zyne and LRNCE, two Moroccan brands running for the 2018 OpenMyMed Prize

Written by FDM

Two Moroccan brands, Zyne and LRNCE, have been shortlisted by the jury of the OpenMyMed Prize contest, organized by the Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode (M-MMM) which rewards the best young designers around the Mediterranean.

Zyne and LRNCE stood out in the OpenMyMed Prize competition , organized by the Mediterranean house of fashion professions (M-MMM) since the two are selected among the 27 young designers  of the 300 selected by the jury. But who are they?

Zyne is the name of the babouches brand founded by the young Moroccan designer Zineb Britel who completely revisits the iconic Moroccan shoe. Strassed, beaded, fringed, embroidered or even refined in leather, the Zyne babouche is simply sophisticated and modern. An authentic handmade brand with noble materials that inevitably please the eye.

As for LRNCE , it was created in 2013 in Marrakech by the Belgian designer Laurence Leenaer, who makes both contemporary interior decoration objects and accessories such as bags, embroidered cushions, printed kimonos and graphic rugs, not to mention handmade leather sandals with details in wood, fabrics or raffia. The young designer combines traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with a modern and singular style of which she alone has the secret.  » I’m not very attached to collections or deadlines, I need freedom to create, to explore to refine my ideas, » she explains on her website, before emphasizing:  » The artisans here have a great influence on my work, they are so talented, they bring me the motivation to develop ever more new knowledge, but also to apprehend the patience that creativity requires. »
