Model Halima Aden stars in new campaign for ‘The Modist’

Halima Aden, the first Hijab-wearing runway model and fashion boundary breaker is staring in a new campaign for e-commerce site, The Modist.

Titled « Dream girls’, Halima Aden is the new muse of the Ramadan campaign of The Modist, luxury UK and Dubai-based e-commerce site. It’s featuring the brand’s own collection of exclusive caftans adorned with floral and fantastical print, says the description in the website.

Aden is joined by her fellow IMG models Diana Silvers and Cayley King wafting around cherry blossoms and look generally enchanting, combining high-fashion with traditional modest clothing.

Aden had previously made headlines for walking the catwalk for Yeezy as the only hijab wearing model. She first made her self known when she became the first participant in the Miss Minnesota USA candidate to model with a hijab and burkini during the swimsuit segment, which granted a modeling contract with IMG Models.

Born in a refugee camp in Kenya, Aden is a first-generation Somali-American, and is currently a freshman at Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota.
