Monarquéo is the new high-end clothing brand to appear in the kingdom. “Genuinely Moroccan and Mediterranean, Monarquéo claims an assertive and sobre fashion, for the active contemporary Moroccan woman who’s respectful of her cultural environment,” reads a statement.
This 100% Moroccan brand is designed, manufactured and marketed in the country. Its artistic director is none other than Ali Drissi. And the line of clothing is classic, sophisticated and casual. “Mixing chic and effortless, international trends and local requirements, it is Monarquéo’s way to create a collection that reflects a unique vision of elegance,” the statement adds.
Because the ambition of Khadija Tamda and Bilal Necba, the couple behind this project, is to see the brand developing into “a must-have reference” in a short-term, and conquering the international scale in a long-term .The collection is divided into four themes. The first “Tropical”, a blend of solid colors and plant prints that produces colorful graphic and a solar atmosphere. The second, “Ishtar”, is a universe conceived as a tribute to the eastern woman, mysterious, powerful and feminine. The atmosphere is darker with deep blacks, browns and saffron touches. The third, “Topkapi”, is a nod to the golden age of the East with delicate embroidery, structured guipure with warm colors. Lastly, “Pastel Color” looks like a cool summer night: colors and materials merge and mix without eradicating one another.
To sum things up, a first collection that offers an interpretation of must-haves of the season, namely trench coats, kimonos, retro-styled women’s dresses, shirts and blouses, pleated pants, tuxedosuits. All the essentials of the spring-summer 2018 womenswear are thus reinvented by Monarquéo who chose actress Nadia Kounda as an ambassador of this first collection.
