Hijabi Model Halima Aden on the cover of Vogue Arabia

Written by FDM

Former Miss Minnesota and fashion boundary breaker, Halima Aden, is the cover girl of Vogue Arabia ‘s June issue. A shoot that was deemed the magazine’s best yet.

Photographed by Greg Kadel and styled by Paul Cavaco, the cover image is accompanied by the tag line, “The runway star shattering stereotypes.”

“In the June issue of Vogue Arabia, we focus on identity – from embracing it, like cover star Halima Aden, to reinventing it, like the young Arab designers breathing new life into traditional craftsmanship.” reads the description by the magazine.

The choice of Aden was praised by other publications. Especially given the fact that she has been recognized as the first hijab-wearing model, and wears the garment in her daily life, contrary to the backlash that Vogue Arabia received when Gigi Hadid graced the publication’s debut issue in the traditional Muslim headscarf, which considered as smart move.
