“In the June issue of Vogue Arabia, we focus on identity – from embracing it, like cover star Halima Aden, to reinventing it, like the young Arab designers breathing new life into traditional craftsmanship.” reads the description by the magazine.
The choice of Aden was praised by other publications. Especially given the fact that she has been recognized as the first hijab-wearing model, and wears the garment in her daily life, contrary to the backlash that Vogue Arabia received when Gigi Hadid graced the publication’s debut issue in the traditional Muslim headscarf, which Fashionista.com considered as smart move.
