Nike unveiled its latest Nike Epic React running item themed “Dusk to Dawn”. A pair of Ramadan sneakers signed by the Lebanese artist Ali Cha’aban. The collaboration named ‘Dusk till Dawn’ was inspired by the streets of Hamra in Lebanon, their tight alleyways and the notorious ‘no parking’ signs that are often ignored.
The 28 years-old artist goes further in his mission to educate Arabs o the importance of excersising in Ramadan: “Capitalizing on exercising in Ramadan is a big step towards educating the culture to be more active.” Because the pair ” Dusk to Dawn ” gives the impression to have been used on the sand, as if one came back from a running. Indeed, the shoe itself features brushed gold elements on the midsole, swoosh sign and lace holders. In short, a simple, but stylish pair!
This is not the artist’s first collaboration with the brand. Last year, he had worked alongside artist Rayan Nawawi for Nike x Vice. Ali Cha’aban has been in the art business for about ten years. The events which unfolded along the Arab Spring, urged him to use his interest in art—across varying mediums—to create a dialogue about social and political issues: “It progressively evolved into wanting to become a story-teller”, Cha’aban told the Mille website.
