Launched in spring 2019, the ARTCO Designers Challenge was highly acclaimed by students in design, graphics and interior design, and more than a hundred entries were registered online.
After a public vote online for the category “Students”, a jury composed of Fouad Akalay, director of publication of Archimedia, Françoise Lemaistre, interior designer and Jamil Bennani, cabinetmaker sculptor, who chose the three winners in the category “Professionals”. The six winners were invited in the ARTCO production unit in Salé to discover the techniques of manual manufacture of carpets and to transcribe, in close collaboration with the experts of its Design Office, carpet designs.
During the evening, themed as: “Volume and Geometry ” and bringing together ARTCO dealers and prescribers, representatives from partner schools, jury members and media partners, the six winners were in turn called to receive their trophy and the first of each category received a check of 15,000 DH.
Each winner received a copy of their carpet as a reward and their model will be part of the ARTCO collection.
This is not the first time that ARTCO has taken the initiative to encourage the Moroccan talents in carpet design since during its 27 years of existence the company has already organized a national competition and three collections in collaboration with artists.
