With “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, Mariah Carey breaks a longevity record

Thanks to her song “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, pop diva Mariah Carey has become the first artist to have topped the music charts in four decades.

The single released in 1994 is at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 ranking for the week of January 4, 2020. Mariah Carey thus had a single in mind in the 90s, 2000s, 2010 and 2020.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” benefited in 2019 from a new promotional campaign, with another release of the album “Christmas” and a new video. This short film used shots from the production of the original music video phase but was never out.

The arrival of Christmas, a tour of Mariah Carey in the United States and her skillful use of social networks did the rest, propelling the song to the top of the ranking established by Billboard, the first number one of the singer for over 11 years.

Already popular during the 90s and 2000s, the title benefited from a boost thanks to its inclusion in the soundtrack of the film “Love Actually” (2003) but especially with the emergence of streaming.
