The third edition of the annual Women In Africa Initiative Summit

Written by FDM

On June 27th and June 28th, 500 people from 75 countries have gathered for the 3rd annual Women In Africa Summit (WIA) Initiative held in Marrakech. A rally to promote the empowerment of African women and boost the emergence of a new generation of women leaders.

“How African women engage the world and create a new paradigm” is the theme of the two intense days of the 3rd Annual Women In Africa Initiative Summit. Inaugurated yesterday, the event brings together 500 people from 75 countries. Economic, governmental and cultural leaders, as well as delegations of women from the Middle East, the United States, Asia, in addition to women and men from the 54 continent, were present.

On the first day of June 27, The schedule proposes masterclasses, “Meet With” sessions (meetings between representatives of country and sectoral delegations) and panels on the following themes  “Africa-Asia: Africa-Asia dynamics”, “Africa- America: Engage America in a new relationship with a more visible Africa” or “Africa-Europe: Change the Deal of Future Relationships” so that “Africa seeks a balanced relationship that has always been denied”, as the organization of Women In Africa  recalls, in a statement.

The next day brings along numerous highlights. Among them is an exceptional session on corruption concocted around the question: “Does corruption have a gender?” Or the “Men with WIA” panel where WIA gives the floor to men who support women. Among other things, we expect the intervention of Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment, and the Digital Economy. Another moment not to be missed is the WIA 54 during which seven high potential African women entrepreneurs will be honored through their project affecting the sector of agriculture, digital, education, health, the environment or social innovation.

During the event, WIA and OCP will recognize for the first time an African woman working in the field of agriculture in Africa, by launching the African Agricultural Woman of the Year Award. In other words, during the Women In Africa Initiative, the issues will be dissected, solutions proposed and African women united!
