Saudi women licensed to become notaries for first time

Written by FDM

The profession of notary opens in Saudi Arabia to women with 12 of them granted permission licenses, the justice ministry said Monday, July 9th.

As notaries, Saudi women can now issue and cancel powers of attorney and certify documents to help establish companies or transfer property rights, the ministry said.

The decision to open the profession to women came a little over two weeks after the lifting of the driving ban, which has been in force in this country for decades.

These decisions, inspired by the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, are part of a vast reform drive called “Vision 2030” which aims to the modernization and development of the ultra-conservative kingdom.
