Saad Hassani’s Solo Exhibition at Loft Art Gallery

Written by FDM

Loft Art Gallery is welcoming, in its space, the second solo exhibition by Moroccan painter Saad Hassani. Nourished by the painting of abstract expressionists, the artist marks his return to the Loft gallery with works that illustrate his career.

This exhibition is a continuation of his series L’Echiquier. On canvases in a more contained format, the vital gestures present in these works are placed at the center. From successive layers of paint which have been the artist’s mark for many years, the work is born with the physical presence of which is immediately visible to the eye.

Born in 1948 in Rabat, the painter has lived and worked in Casablanca for many years. Close to the artists of the Casablanca School, Saâd Hassani was very early on in influential circles in the art world, both in Morocco and in Europe. A first personal exhibition was dedicated to him from his beginnings, at the age of 18. The young artist frequents galleries, discovers the Paris school, brut art and abstract expressionists.

Hassani’s canvases have integrated the most prestigious Moroccan collections.

From March 25, to April 25, 2021. Loft Art Gallery
