A premiere will be held in Casablanca, before the film crew goes on tour in several cities of the kingdom, including Rabat, Tangier, Fez, Meknes, Marrakech, Agadir and Khouribga, during the second half of February. “Razzia” will then go to France, where it will be released in cinemas on March 14, then in Belgium, the co-producer country of the film, on April 25.
The director also plans to screen it in cities where there are no more cinemas, in order “to go meet an audience that does not have the possibility to see films in theaters, “said Nabil Ayouch to HuffPost Morocco . “We will organize a traveling caravan or we will screen it in theaters,” he continued.
The film is scheduled for about 50 festivals around the world this year, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in the Netherlands, which will be held from January 27 to February 2. In the United States, “Razzia” will be released in 2018, and a broadcast on Amazon is planned.
Shot in Casablanca, Ouarzazate and in the Atlas Mountains, “Razzia” brings together five distinct stories, some in the early 80s and others in contemporary Casablanca. All the characters are linked to a teacher who taught in a small school in a Berber village in 1982.
