Princess Lalla Meryem chairs Al Manar’s 50th Anniversary Ceremony for People with Intellectual Disabilities

Wednesday, March 6, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem chaired in Rabat the ceremony of the 50th anniversary of Al Manar Association which works for people with mental disabilities.

Al Manar Association for people with mental disabilities has marked its 50 years of existence. Indeed, the birthday ceremony was presided in Rabat by HRH Princess Lalla Meryem. At the podium, the director and founder of the association, Annie Lazrak recalled the efforts made by his center for 50 years, noting that thanks to the support provided, children have managed to integrate into society and some have even been able to follow a professional insertion.
Also present, was Fouzia Azzouzi, Vice-President of the National Union of Associations Working in Mental Disability (UNAHM) based in the Al Manar Center. In a speech, she pointed out certain objectives set by the Union as promoting joint action to preserve the basic rights of persons with disabilities, the proposal of legislative texts that will be submitted to the parties concerned at the governmental level, constitutional and parliamentary, or the monitoring of the implementation of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
HRH Princess Lalla Meryem then chaired the signature of two bilateral agreements between the association and the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) for the first time, and the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) for the second. HRH Princess Lalla Meryem also visited the premises of the center and spent some time in three classes before posing for a souvenir photo.
