A princess with a big heart. From an early age, Princess Lalla Asmaa engaged in social activism and charitable actions, placing a particular emphasis on improving the situation of deaf and mute children. In her capacity as President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation for Deaf Children and Young People, Princess Lalla Asmaa provides invaluable support to this institution, a pioneer in the care of deaf and mute children.
For several decades, the Foundation has offered specialized education to beneficiaries who are entitled to technical support through, in particular, digital hearing aids, cochlear implants, and electronic transmission systems, thus helping them to come out of isolation. From the start of the 2018 academic year, the first batch of baccalaureate graduates from the Foundation benefited from the partnership agreements signed with the Faculty of Sciences of Rabat and the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, making it possible to broaden the fields of access to higher education. Training in embroidery, weaving, hairdressing, and fine arts are also provided by the institution, which takes the party to introduce its students to specialties integrated into the vocational training centers in the craft sector. In April 2020, the Foundation contributed 200,000 dirhams to the Special Fund dedicated to the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, set up on the high instructions of King Mohammed VI.
Cultural and sporting activities are also at the heart of the concerns of Princess Lalla Asmaa who is, moreover, the Honorary President of the Society for the Protection of Animals and Nature (SPANA). In other words, Princess Lalla Asmaa, who is celebrating her birthday on September 29, is a committed Princess who, through her kindness and humanism, has changed the lives of hearing-impaired children.
