In light of the opening of the second cultural center: « Les étoiles du détroit », in Beni Makada (Tangier) and in collaboration with the TGCC and the BDA agency, The Ali Zaoua Foundation, invites you to an unusual exhibition, carried by renowned artists.

They are painters, sculptors, photographers, the likes of Yasmina Alaoui, Mounir Fatmi , Hassan Hajjaj and Mohamed Melehi …They are animated by a tremendous desire for freedom, destroying without complex the material limits of the painting. They employ all the possible and imaginable processes that the technical progress of the new century offers them. And they are there, heart in their hands, to support the left-behind children, those born on the wrong side of the fence.

The new socio-cultural center -co-founded by Nabil Ayouch and Mahi Binebine- is a place of initiation and training of arts and cultures of the world, open to youngsters of the Beni Makada district. They will be able to learn how to play a musical instrument, to sing, to dance or practice theater, to paint and to draw.

The cultural center Les Etoiles du Detroit, also has a media library for adults and children, where they will have the opportunity to discover beautiful stories in the sidelines of reading workshops. Literature enthusiasts, meanwhile, will also get to meet and greet their favorite authors who will be sharing their artistic background  with them.

For the record, Les Etoiles de Sidi Moumen, was the first cultural center initiated by the director Nabil Ayouch and the bestselling author, Mahi Binebine. It opened its doors in the aftermath of the May 16, 2003 attacks to provide young people an opportunity to learn, to discover and especially to express themselves through artistic creation and cultural expressions.
