New association project for the benefit of autistic children

Written by FDM

“The right of autistic people to participate in cultural and artistic life” is the title of the ambitious project carried by the association “Mirror for the autistic child of Fez” in order to develop the know-how and talent of these children in the artistic field.

Active for 17 years, the association “Mirror for the autistic child of Fez” is launching, in partnership with the regional council of Fès-Meknes, a new project called “The right of participation of autistic people in cultural and artistic life”.

The goal is to develop the know-how and talent of these children in the artistic field while raising awareness among citizens and opening a public debate around their right to participate in cultural and artistic life. For the past two years, the said project covered several activities, including awareness campaigns on autism in the region, murals, exhibitions of art and handicrafts made by people with autism, theater performances, in addition to the production of a film.

“The right to culture is a constitutional right, and its realization requires public and sectoral policies”, declared to the MAP the president of the “Miroir pour l’Enfant autiste de Fès” association, Ahmed Al Baghdadi, emphasizing the need to create the necessary tools to activate this right, “given the major role played by culture in raising awareness, strengthening socio-economic integration and combating discrimination”.

The association has just completed a project called “for inclusive local land accessible to people with disabilities”. The latter allowed the approval of a memorandum by the Municipal Council during its ordinary session in October 2020.
