Multi-award-winning at the Tangier National Film Festival 2018, at the El Gouna festival in Egypt, at the Carthage Cinema Days 2017 and selected at Venice Days Film Festival, the latest feature film by director Faouzi Bensaidi “Volubilis” arrives in Moroccan cinemas on Wednesday October 3, 2018.

Director, screenwriter and Moroccan actor, Faouzi Bensaidi is back on the big screen with a fourth feature film that is committed and relevant. “The result of the director’s personal observation, “Volubilis” describes a love story against the backdrop of a critique of capitalism and a savage globalization that takes our lives hostage, a skeptical outlook at the drift of a dividing world between winners and losers.” said a statement from organizers .

Bensaidi returned to Meknes to shoot “Volubilis” and pay tribute to his hometown. The feature film brings together actors Nadia Kounda, Mouhcine Malzi, Mouna Fettou, Abdelhadi Taleb, Nezha Rahil and Faouzi Bensaidi himself. The film tells the impossible love story of a young, working class couple in an unequal Moroccan society: Abdelkader is shopping mall guard, and Malika a housekeeper. Despite the money problems and struggles to get together, they decide to get married.
