African creation, especially Moroccan, will shine in Paris from November 13 to 15. Indeed, it is the return of the contemporary African art fair, ” Also Known As Africa” (AKAA) in its 5th edition giving appointments to renowned artists such as painter Najia Mehadji and famous photographer Hassan Hajjaj.
Najia Mehadji will present her latest works there under the name of “Line of Life”. The gesture and the artistic touch of Najia Mehadji are known. The painter notably marked the spirits through her series “Vague” in which she represents the ebb and flow of Sufi thought through this ever-moving line. The spiritual artist also transcribes, with a brushstroke, the flowers of peony and pomegranate, or the dance of the dervishes.
She’s been exhibiting in Parisian galleries since the 1980s and, from 1985, she decided to share her life between her studio in Paris and the one in Essaouira. Her works have been exhibited in prestigious places such as the National Museum of Modern Art (Center Pompidou in Paris). And her career as an artist was crowned with a very important retrospective at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Céret in France.
