Two months after its inauguration the Museum Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech (MYSLM) has already made it to the shortlist of a competition.

English design magazine Wallpaper, selected the museum at the Design Awards 2018 in the category of “Best New Public Building”.

“We are so proud to be nominated as the best new public building in the Wallpaper Design Awards 2018.”  said the Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech Museum Team on Instagram.

In an article published in May 2016 in Wallpaper magazine, journalist Ellie Stathaki already highlighted the beauty of the building that hosts part of the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Paris collection. “Pierre Bergé wanted the project to be anchored in both modernity and Morocco,” the architects Olivier Marty and Karl Fournier told the journalist. “We designed the building like one would cut fabric for a dress, by composing curves and lines, in the fashion of the working drawings, white traced on black paper, that we discovered in the designer’s workshop and archives.”

The MYSLM features 5,000 clothes, 15,000 accessories, thousands of sketches and many other objects. In this magnificent building also, there are two exhibitions spaces (one permanent and the other temporary), a 130-seat auditorium, a bookstore, a café-restaurant with a terrace and a huge library.

The  jury will be composed of the British architect Farshid Moussavi, the pioneers of Nordic cuisine René and Nadine Redzepi, the Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, the minimalist master Jasper Morrison, and the Ethiopian model Liya Kebede. Appointment on January 11th for the announcement of the winner.
