Morocco’s top ranking at the 12th Casablanca International Marathon

The 12th International Casablanca Marathon saw the participation of more than 5,500 runners from all over Morocco and 43 countries. Moroccans, especially women, have achieved a beautiful milestone.

5,500 runners, men and women. Organized on October 6th, the 12th International Casablanca Marathon was a great success with an increase of more than 30% of the participants compared to the previous edition. And among the competitors who took part in the three competitions, 43 nations were represented against 33 last year. Thus, the victory of the main contest went to the Kenyan Samny Kigen Korir in the men’s section, and to the Kenyan, Lilian Jebitok in the women’s section with a time of 2:31:31 followed closely by the Moroccan Keltoum Bouaasrya (2: 34:30) and by the Ethiopian Hey Mamitu Balcha (2:39:56).

The group leading the Half Marathon is, meantime, totally Moroccan with the victories of Hamza Lamkartass (1:01:15), Abdennaceur Fathi (1:01:36) and Mohamed Fathi (1:01: 54). The same Moroccan predominance was registered on the ladies’ side thanks to Fatiha Asamid (1:12:00), Sana Achahbar (1:12:32) and Fatima Zahra Guerdadi (1:14:40).

For the longest run (the 10 km), it was won by Hamid El Janati in the men category and Rahma Tahiri in the women category, followed by Majda Maayouf (34:32) and Hanane El Bajaoui (36:21) ).
