Moroccan urban pop singer Manal Benchlikha took to Instagram to announce her nomination for the best North African artist of the year in the 15th annual Headies Awards list, alongside fellow Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto, Emel Mathlouthi (Tunisia), Latifa (Tunisia), Muhamad Ramadan (Egypt) and
Soolking (Algeria).
The Moroccan artist was seen shedding tears of joy after announcing the news, expressing her gratitude for this international nomination.
“I still cannot believe it,” she wrote in another Instagram story, tagging her Slay-featuring rapper.
El Grande Toto also appeared stunned, shedding tears of happiness on Instagram.
“This was a far-fetched dream of mine,” he said, calling on his followers to vote for him.
This 15th Headies awards ceremony is coming to America for the first time, and it will be broadcasted live from Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center on Sept. 4.
